Matthew Alan & Paul Sparks Interview – Castle Rock Season 2 – NYCC 2019

Mr. Alan and Mr. Sparks play two adopted sons to Tim Robbin’s ‘Pop’ Merrill. These siblings seem to have a tight bond but don’t get along with Nadia and Abdi, two other of Pop’s adopted children. Tensions rise as Pop is dealing with terminal cancer. Relationships within the family, as well as between the two towns is strained.

Matthew Alan plays Chris Merrill. Chris is a newly created character for the Hulu original series. Chris and Ace seem to be close. Mr. Alan goes into some detail on who his character is on the inside and explains for of his intentions in the wider plot points of the series. He also talks a bit about creating a new character to fit in a world of established characters. Characters all written by Stephen King.

Paul Sparks takes over Ace Merrill. Ace was previously seen in Stand By Me, based on the novella The Body. Ace was famously played by Kiefer Sutherland in a very memorable performance. Mr. Sparks addresses the legacy of Ace and his process on finding who the character may have become and how he got to some of the character decisions he made. In Castle Rock Season 2 Ace is set to take over Pop’s business which is leading to a lot of tension.

We’d like to thank Hulu for the opportunity to sit down with the stars of the series. We enjoyed the dive deeper into the incredible world they are expanding on exclusively on their network.

We’ll be releasing more interviews with the on, and off, screen talent of this amazing series all week!

Castle Rock Season 2 debuts October 23 exclusively on Hulu

A psychological-horror series set in the Stephen King multiverse, Castle Rock combines the mythological scale and intimate character storytelling of King’s best-loved works, weaving an epic saga of darkness and light, played out on a few square miles of Maine woodland. The fictional Maine town of Castle Rock has figured prominently in King’s literary career: Cujo, The Dark Half, IT and Needful Things, as well as novella The Body and numerous short stories (Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption) are set in there. Castle Rock is an original suspense/thriller — a first-of-its-kind reimagining that unites King’s themes and worlds and brings together the author’s most iconic and beloved characters.

In Season 2, a feud between warring clans comes to a boil when budding psychopath Annie Wilkes, Stephen King’s nurse from hell, gets waylaid in Castle Rock.
