Poltergeist (2015)
I just don’t understand how this movie opens in the prime time of the summer instead of at Halloween where it clearly belongs.
I vaguely remember the original Poltergeist, except than the famous scene of Carol Ann in front of the TV saying “they’re here….” so I knew that would play to my advantage. I’m not holding on to the Poltergeist legacy to be ruined by a remake.
I’m not even kidding when I say that 95% of the scary scenes in this movie were already shown in the trailer. This is not a Horror movie, but a middle of the road supernatural thriller for everyone.
Sam Rockwell is entertaining in the beginning of the story because he’s playing Sam Rockwell. You can’t help but to be in this guy’s corner as he tries to do what’s right for his family. They move into a new house where strange occurrences start to take place. Halfway through, the youngest child gets taken away by the spirits haunting the house and the family must band together to bring her back.
The 3D effects made a couple of the scenes here cool, especially one involving a trip through the “other side”, but for the most part, it’s pretty mediocre.
This movie would’ve been a lot more fitting in October.
