A RETIREE DECIDES HE WANTS TO BE A ROCK STAR AT AGE 60 IN THE ACCLAIMED DOCUMENTARY-NARRATIVE HYBRID

Director John Clayton Doyle’s acclaimed documentary-narrative hybrid I’M AN ELECTRIC LAMPSHADE is embarking on a wide scale festival run this fall across North America.

Called both “one of the best documentaries of the year” (on-magazine.co.uk), and “One of the best films we’ll see all year” (KQED), the mind-bending music odyssey tells of Doug McCorkle, a buttoned- up, mild-mannered corporate accountant. After retiring at age 60, Doug puts his marriage and life savings on the line to chase his wildest dream.

Shot in the United States, Mexico & the Philippines, the film has been compared to Sean Baker’s Tangerine, with much of the cast playing versions of themselves, adding to the authenticity of a film that would’ve been difficult to fake. Featuring superlative performances from Doug McCorkle, Regina McCorkle, Cesar Valentino, Isra Jeron Ysmael, Darnell Peart, Robin Dunn, Mark Joseph Aquino, Marshall Factora, and Marion McCorkle Beckerman.

Mammoth Lakes Film Festival – Sept. 22nd to 26th – Live in Mammoth Lakes, CA (IAEL is scheduled to screen Sep 23rd)
San Diego International Film Festival – October 14th to 25th – Live in San Diego, CA. (Screening date TBA)
