Your weekly streaming pick has arrived! The Good Place is an NBC sitcom. The first three seasons are streaming on Netflix. The much anticipated fourth season is fast approaching. It looks just as strangely hilarious as the rest.
The Good Place follows four oddballs into the afterlife. These quirky characters are led around by Michael (Ted Danson). Michael’s the overseer of their afterlife neighborhood. Things aren’t what they seem, as the misplaced residents quickly find out.
As the seasons progress, the story not only progresses, but changes. It’s a fast paced, fast moving story. There’s a whole lot of charm and heart balanced with some ridiculous comedy and absolutely genius shots fired at, pretty much everything.
The cast led by Kristen Bell and Ted Danson boasts some other incredibly talented actors. William Jackson Harper’s Chidi faces crippling indecision. Jameela Jamil’s Tahani Al-Jamil is an egotistical socialite who name drops with the best of them. Manny Jacinto’s Jason is a dance troupe leading, small time criminal, piece of trash from Jacksonville Florida. D’Arcy Carden’s Janet is something of a magical powered android who gets more of a role as the series progresses and is amazing in her chipper delivery of the most ridiculous dialogue.
The most fun parts of The Good Place are in the casts ability to deliver the most absurd lines and cutting pop culture references imaginable. The lines are so clever they take you by surprise even when re-watching the series.
Refreshing from start to finish The Good Place is unlike any other show you’ve seen. It breaks every mold. Give the show a shot, if for some reason you haven’t.
