Taken 3 *aka* “I remember when it was called The Fugitive”. Admittedly, I never saw Taken 2, so I was worried that I might be missing something. Shockingly, I don’t think there’s any kind of references to part 2, so I was good. Neeson is back as Bryan Mills, this time he’s out to clear his name after being set up for murder. Forest Whitaker is the cop that’s chasing him. Cat and mouse with some car chases and gunfire.
The main thing that stood out to me was how amazingly bad the editing is in this movie. Incredibly quick cuts that go by so fast, that it’s tough to tell exactly what’s going on, plus super shaky-cam.
The story is basic, and there’s nothing inspiring or original here. The one and only reason this movie was made was make money, the filmmakers had nothing worth saying, and any twists in the story you can see play out on a weekly episodic tv show.
If you want to see the latest Bryan Mills ass-kicking fest, I would probably just wait for the DVD.
