It’s Friday! Time once again to countdown in the world of nerd with The Friday Five!

This week we countdown the top five best movies of the year 2015! This list can only be made up of movies I actually saw, and is the opinion of the only person who matters….me! You can hear the entire So Wizard teams picks on our podcast!

5) Furious 7

Somewhere along the way, The Fast and Furious movies went from dumb car racing movies to batshit insane awesome action movies. Furious 7 is the zenith of the series. Cars jumping between buildings, The Rock with a Gatling gun, Jason Statham, and a hell of a tribute to Paul Walker make this the best in the series. If you still think these are the same movies featuring Ja Rule drag racing, you need to let it go and enjoy some of the best action movies of the last decade.

4) Creed

When this was announced, I was pretty skeptical. The Rocky series ended on a high note with Rock Balboa and all was forgiven for the horrid Rocky V. What could have been a crappy cash grab turned out to be one of the best movies of the year. Great fights with work from actual boxers, Michael B. Jordan making you forget all about Fantastic Four, Sylvester Stallone giving everything he has in a fantastic performance and writer/director Ryan Coogler making it all come together. I cannot wait for him to potentially take on Black Panther for Marvel.

3) Ant Man

Ant Man had a very, very steep hill to climb to even be released, never mind be a good movie. The original director left just weeks before filming was to begin. The first trailer didn’t look so hot. Somehow, despite it all, Ant Man was great. With great action set pieces and humor, it delivered as the best superhero movie of the year. I would watch an entire movie of Micheal Pena telling stories second hand.

2) Kingsman: The Secret Service

This was the surprise of the year for me. I literally had no idea this would be such a kick ass and fun movie. Filled with crazy fights and espionage, as well as possibly the best single scene in a movie all year when Galahad fights an entire church full of people, this was a great movie. In any other year, this is the best movie of the year.

1)Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Was there any doubt? Star Wars is back and it’s awesome again. The Force Awakens is a giant middle finger to the entire prequel saga. Fueled by amazing trailers with thousands of You Tube videos of people weeping while watching them, and the pent up desire of nerds everywhere to see the saga come back strong, it delivered on every single level to be a great movie. If anyone you know says its not, that’s a good sign to stop talking to them. You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life.

And that does it for this weeks Friday Five! As always, feedback is welcome and can be in the comments below or through social media or sowizardpodcast@yahoo.com!
